Spies and journalists put on disguises and go undercover for many reasons: to protect their countries, expose evils, or just plain get a good story. They cross lines of race, age, gender, class, religion, political ideology, and nationality, living a lie to discover the truth. Join me in thinking about the complicated ethics of this practice, the toll it takes, and the unexpected insights.
